You’re here because you’re concerned about your own weight and your fitness, or perhaps
the weight and health of someone close to you. You recognize that maintaining a healthy
weight is critical for a long, vital, active, disease-free life. If there’s a problem, you want to do something about it. But those quick weight loss centers just don’t work for you. All those diets for quick weight loss have also gotten you downright depressed.
So congratulations! You’re already miles ahead of many people who just stick their head in the sand when it comes to getting and staying healthy. Losing weight and increasing your fitness can feel pretty daunting. In this modern day, we are confronted with skinny celebrities and airbrushed magazine models that the world seems to worship, so there’s a lot of social pressure to attain that “perfect” figure too, to ‘fit in’ and conform to the skinny ideal.
But in focusing on unrealistic celebrity-type body images we are really losing track of the bigger issue. You just need to be healthy FOR YOU. Find the weight and level of fitness that suits your lifestyle, your body type, your goals… and no-one else’s! Do you think celebrities gain a perfect figure on their own? No way! They have legions of dedicated professionals waiting on them hand and foot – nutritionists, personal trainers, chefs, motivational coaches, you name it!
So how does a REAL person go about attaining the svelte, healthy sexy body they’ve been striving for? Which diet should one follow? Which exercise program? This points to another major problem in society today: We are assaulted by a never ending barrage of fad diets and miracle exercise routines or machines. The ‘magic bullet’ is discovered, or the ‘perfect weight solution’ promoted. And of course, 99% of the time it’s all a load of you-know-what!
These days, you got to get smart and stay smart about your health. Cut the crap, and I mean that literally and figuratively. No more hype, and no more junk. In this no-nonsense free report and the main book it is drawn from, we blast all the common weight loss myths and misconceptions out of the water, and instead put forward a REAL DEAL solution that get the weight off… for good!
It is fairly simple: to lose weight, we have to eat less and move more. There is no magic cure, no powder, pill or cream that will make it any simpler for us to do. We need to haul our jumbo, super-sized rear ends up and off of the couch and move it. We need to shove back the troughs that pass for dinner plates and put down the fork, (preferably before the fourth or fifth course comes our way.) And we need to do them both together. Diet without exercise will not work.
Exercise without diet will not work. Diet and exercise must work together- period. The sooner that we all learn that, the sooner that we will all get off of the fit and fat roller coaster. What happens is this: we gain ten pounds. We turn on the television or grab a favorite magazine or even worse, listen to one of our own friends and the next thing we know we are eating some crazy routine of food. Certain foods are only allowed at certain times. No foods that begin with the letter “P” after two p.m. The first meal must be eaten at 8, the last meal at 3, no exceptions. Soon, the problem with such a restrictive diet becomes all too clear. This is a busy, busy, fast paced world. We do not have the luxury of time any more – and even if we do, who’s to say that our tummies will agree to it?
So, how long did the “Time” diet last? About a week? It doesn’t really matter, because now the new one is the orange diet. You can eat all of the oranges that you would like, along with all other foods that are orange. But, the rule is, nothing else. If it is orange, you gorge, if it’s not, you put it back. Alright, so you won’t get scurvy, but really, how many orange foods are there? A few days into this one and you are not only sick of all things of that color but your skin is starting to take an odd hue as well.
Starting to feel discouraged, you find what you think is your perfect salvation on a late night infomercial- always the perfect place to look for health answers and salvation, you know. You order the pills that the svelte hostess is touting and even kick in for the rush shipping. Things are finally starting to look up for you, or so you think.
Flash forward a month. You started with ten pounds that were bothering you (not to mention
the weight that you technically needed to lose to be at what is deemed a healthy weight.) You have
tried and failed a diet that was so rigid that it did not take real life into account. You have tried and failed a diet that focused on only one type of food and banned all others. And, by now you have tried and failed to use diet pills to help with your weight loss because they either made
you feel a) jittery, jumpy and nervous because they contain caffeine or similar ingredients or b)
nothing at all. Your total weight loss for this month? Unless you count the money you are out for
the pills and the “rush” shipping, if you are like the typical newbie dieter, the answer is probably
zero. And, to tell the truth, you have probably picked up a couple of pounds as well.
Nobody wants you to figure out weight loss for yourself. They want to sell you their book,
their gadget, their pills. The more confusing, conflicting information that “they” can flood you
with, the better. Fad diets will come and go, some of them more dangerous than others. We follow
them, hoping to finally find our way to the skinny person we know is within us and then when they
do not work, berate ourselves for being failures. We are not failures. We are human. Humans are
hardwired for survival and that does not always make it easy to be skinny if that is not the weight
that our own body thinks is right.
There are a million things that try to keep us fat- including our own body and its instinctive
fight for survival. We have to accept a few things and we will finally start to win the weight loss war:
1. Diet and Exercise must work together
2. We must understand our bodies “set point.”
3. We must understand hunger and what it means.
4. We must accept that no one food is magic.
