		<itunes:summary>Part 7 of my interview with a very healthy octogenarian:

Q: Is it a little easier for most people to fathom,nbsp; knowing at least theyrsquo;re going to have one hot meal out of their three meals in a day if they juice?

A: Thatrsquo;s right.nbsp; There are people who say to you Oh, how ndash; where ndash; where are you going to get all your protein if you donrsquo;t eat any meat?nbsp; Well, the ndash; the object is that by cutting out your dairy products, there are soy products that you can get.nbsp; There is protein there, there is protein in your barley, in the green foods that you eat.nbsp;
And so therersquo;s plenty of protein, you donrsquo;t really have to worry about that, thatrsquo;s not really a concern.nbsp; The object is that a lot of people say Well, gee, you canrsquo;t just eat what ndash; you know, part of the problem with people is that wersquo;ve been eating the wrong kinds of food at the same time.nbsp; We have acid in our system, and that acid is made to digest ndash; help digest your food.nbsp; When you mix foods that are not really supposed to be eaten together, when you eat too much protein and too much carbohydrates, then the acid in your stomach ndash; for instance, meat takes a certain kind of acid to digest it, so when yoursquo;re eating meat, your stomach acid is used to digest that meat. But then, when you throw in another product, a carbohydrate for instance, then yoursquo;re needing a different kind of acid.nbsp; And, of course, it makes it very difficult for ndash; thatrsquo;s why people feel bloated, they feel gassy, when they eat because they have used the wrong mixture of food.nbsp; But only by studying these books and ndash; because other people and nutritionists have done double-blind studies to determine what are the best foods that your system can digest.

You know, that the human body takes a tremendous amount of energy to digest the foods that we eat.nbsp; They say a large percentage of our energy is used in digesting the foods.nbsp; Thatrsquo;s why there are so many people that have heart attacks immediately after theyrsquo;ve had a big meal, because the stomach is working overly hard and it puts ndash; taxes the heart and, of course, the heart attack occurs.nbsp; Well, by eating the proper food mixture, you lighten the load and, of course, your quality of life will be a lot better and a lot longer.</itunes:summary>

		<itunes:summary>Part 4 of my interview with a very healthy octogenarian:

Q: Therersquo;s been a lot of talk about supplements too, and how supplements may or may not be helpful and, you know, therersquo;s ndash; depending on who you read and listen to, therersquo;s a lot of hype versus a lot of money being spent on supplements.nbsp; Itrsquo;s quite a huge industry.nbsp; I know itrsquo;s quite popular for a lot of online businesses to sell supplements.nbsp; And the key with supplements, from what I can see is, I mean it can be very expensive, especially if yoursquo;re retired and on a limited income.nbsp; So, you know, is it important for supplementation to occur and, if so, where would you say, you know, is the best bang for the buck, especially if you donrsquo;t have a lot of money just to go out and buy all the supplements that you want?nbsp; What would be, you know, your top two or three supplements that you think are most beneficial if you are on a limited budget?

A: You can load up on all kinds of supplements.nbsp; But I donrsquo;t think that you need everything thatrsquo;s out there.nbsp; But there are some basics and, for instance, when you read your AARP magazine ndash; and I think an awful lot of people do belong to the AARP ndash;nbsp; they have available vitamins and minerals.nbsp; And other sources tell you that, for instance, Centrum Silver, you hear about this all the time as seniors.nbsp; But this is a multi-vitamin.

I recommend to people that unless they really seriously investigate the vitamins that they think they need for themselves ndash; now each individual person is an individual and his body needs different things, and people eat different foods, so supplementing is important.nbsp; Because as you get older, your body just doesnrsquo;t process the food like when yoursquo;re young and, therefore, yes, vitamins are very important.nbsp; I donrsquo;t think that the necessary vitamins are all that expensive and especially if you buy them from some of the people ndash; some of the companyrsquo;s like Puritanrsquo;s Pride or Swanson, and there are several others.

And, of course, today all of the drugstores and all of the big supermarkets carry a line of multi-vitamins.nbsp; So you have to choose what you think is best.nbsp; But we all know that Vitamins A, B and especially Vitamin C ndash; Vitamin C has many times not been given the credit.nbsp; Therersquo;s a book out called Curing the Incurable, and itrsquo;s about Vitamin C and infective diseases, and about toxins.nbsp; And they ndash; they talk in there just like other books do, that a lot of people donrsquo;t realize it but we have to detox our bodies periodically in order to clean out our systems and there is historical information that people for, you know, many hundreds of years have detoxed their bodies periodically.

All kinds of physicians out there and chiropractors specialize in helping people detox their bodies because the way to health is that you have to clean your body out and then start putting the proper food, which is the foods that ndash; In fact, when God made the world, He told people --nbsp; for all of those who wish to investigate the Bible, you can go to Genesis, paragraph 1 ndash; Chapter 1, paragraph 29, and you will see there what God told Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden what to eat.nbsp; And this consisted of plant foods and fruits and vegetables and nuts, dates and all kinds of foods that were there.

We have steered from that because of our modern society and our modern processing. The meat that was back in the old days is not the meat that we are receiving today.nbsp; There was no mad cow disease in those days, there is now and the world is not really paying much attention to that.nbsp; And if you read the main line ndash; the mainstream media, they talk very little about mad cow because we have powerful lobbies in this country.nbsp; The American Cattlemenrsquo;s Association, American Dairymenrsquo;s Association, they s...</itunes:summary>

		<itunes:summary>Part 2 of my interview with a very healthy octogenarian:

Listen tonbsp;Living Wellnbsp;Interview(.mp3-10 mins)

Q: What do you say to people about diet?nbsp; Letrsquo;s say, they make a decision they will eat more plant food and more fruits in their diet.nbsp; And they still sort of have this approach towards a hundred percent of my health care and wellness, they go with their doctorrsquo;s recommendations.nbsp; I know that younbsp; went through that in your own situation, trying to figure out whatrsquo;s the right decision to make based on what needs to be done to keep yourself healthy.nbsp; And, as yoursquo;ve been studying and researching this, what do you think about the doctors today in terms of their approach towards fitness and health and do they have all the right solutions or are there other alternatives that ndash; issues that people should be considering?

A: There are lots of solutions out there to solve our problems of health.nbsp; But the medical profession, normally medical doctors are trained to treat the sickness after it occurs.nbsp; But there are other natural ways of prevention, before the sickness occurs.nbsp; And that is whatrsquo;s important and there are many authors that have written many books about eating plant foods and about preventing this sickness.

As you know, and I know, that the media today is finally ndash; what ndash; what people call the mainstream media, is finally admitting that the problems in this country of obesity is very serious.nbsp; And people really havenrsquo;t been awoken. And they probably wonrsquo;t be until they get sick. And then many times itrsquo;s too late.nbsp; And therein lies the difficulty because the people that are neuropathic or people that believe in natural foods, they say that we should not be eating meats and dairy products and processed foods ndash; white flour, for instance ndash; and ndash; but how do you convince people that they should be eating only fruits and vegetarian-type style. And thatrsquo;s very, very difficult because people donrsquo;t think about it until theyrsquo;re sick.

And many times there are so many young men in their 50s that donrsquo;t have an opportunity because they have a ndash; they have a heart attack and theyrsquo;re dead.nbsp; Or they have cancer and itrsquo;s too late.nbsp; And so you have to get into the real meat of this thing and there are many, many doctors out there.nbsp; Yoursquo;ve got Dr. Andrew Weil, and yoursquo;ve got Dr. Julian Whitaker.nbsp; I could name you doctors ndash; McDougall, Dr. McDaniels.nbsp; They all have newsletters and they all have publications.nbsp; Theyrsquo;ve all written books about the ideal food that we should be eating. And there are religious people out there also that have written books.nbsp; Therersquo;s a gentleman by the name of Dr. George Malkmus in Shelby, North Carolina, who has a website ndash; as many other doctors.nbsp; They have websites and newsletters to advise you and tell you.nbsp; And basically, theyrsquo;re all the same.

Theyrsquo;re all saying that you ndash; we, in this country, eat too much meat and we eat too much dairy products. And that comprises all of a different cheeses which are just wonderful to eat.nbsp; But theyrsquo;re now saying that these foods that wersquo;re eating, the standard American diet, is whatrsquo;s causing our cancers and our diabetes, and our health prob ndash; our heart problems.nbsp; And so we have to stop eating those foods and start eating the proper foods, and our sicknesses will be reversed.
